The White Horse, Thelnetham

Re-opened on 28th December. New landlady, Dawn, has run pubs before but not on her own. Excellent pint of Adnams Southwold today. Intention to have Adnams Southwold Bitter, Woodforde's Wherry and a guest from local breweries. Family, dog and "wellie" friendly.

The Vine, Hopton

Very recently re-opened. Visited on 31 December and was welcomed by the new landlord, Ivor. Woodforde's Wherry, Adnams Southwold Bitter and (an excellent) Old Ale on. Landlord intends to use third handpump (Old Ale) for local micro-breweries. Food available once kitchens have been refurbished. Future plans may include some camping facilities at the bottom of the extensive garden whilst retaining the kids playground.

Benson Blakes Bar and Grill, Bury St Edmunds

Nice bar but went in lunchtime on a Thursday and it was deserted - ordered a pint of Green Jack Australian Summer Pale Ale (ABV 3.7%) and was charged 3.60 - not surprised the place was so quiet at those prices.

The Old Cannon Brewery, Bury St Edmunds

The pint of Rusty Gun I had tasted like it was brewed in a rusty bucket ! They were only serving OCB ales + Adnams today so if the policy is now not to sell guest ales (apart from Adnams) I will not be down there very often.

The ales used to have character and were works of art but now they all taste metallic and the quality has dipped significantly (I suppose we should expect that with a name like the Old Cannon)
