Next visit January 2011. Looking forward to a pint outside with friends and the Springers, Toby and Bill. First had a pint of black velvet here in 1971 when I shouldn't have! Great spot.

Bridge Inn, Chirk

Made famous by Eddie Izzard this pub excels at welcoming flotsam and jetsam off the Shropshire Union Canal. Watch out for the excellent rib eye steaks and the lounge charity bookshop, one of the largest in Chirk Bank.

The Hand Hotel, Chirk

Restaurant much improved since Hotel taken over. Good pint of Station Bitter (Stonehouse Brewery, Oswestry 3.9% abv). Well appointed.

Bridge Inn, Chirk

Recently taken over by Martin and Debbie.
Good atmosphere, great food, just off the Llangollen Canal at Chirk Bank so popular with bargees.
Nice pint of Abbots.
