This place has everything I look for in a good pub. When approaching the bar I found a great selection of real ales and was advised to try the Sharpes' Doombar by a friendly barman. The beer was spot on and went perfectly with my pie and mash. There seems to be a regular crowd during the day and an overall friendly atmosphere.
I returned later that evening after a visit to the Rose Theatre to find a busier pub with more young people, but still the friendly quick service I had experienced during the day. Being just out of the town center this pub seems to avoid the more chavy customers unlike some of its competitors.
I guess there are still some good old English pubs about! I recommend this pub to all.

Full of Tiffin Girls toffing their hearts out, and waxing lyrical about their ambient boyfriends who they've moving to New York with.

Nice beers, and should the Tiffin yaw yaw become too much, you can always drown yoursefl in the river.

Visited for first time this afternoon. Good range of real ale (incluing Old Peculier), good food, pleasant and efficient service. If some of the previous reviews were accurate at the time of writing, things have obviously improved a lot!

They had six real ales on when I was in there at lunchtime today: Bombardier; Young’s Bitter; Adnam’s Bitter; GKIPA; Sharp’s Doom Bar; and the excellent Exmoor Hound Dog. They even managed to produce a fruit smoothy for Mrs R. This pub is right on the river a stone’s throw from Kingston Bridge, with a narrow outside drinking area with a decent view over the river. Inside it’s a low-beamed single room pub, though it has clearly been extended into the smallish conservatory area at some stage. The food was OK, though nothing special, and the service was pretty good. One of the better pubs in Kingston in my opinion, and the real ale choice puts it a notch above the average as well. Definitely worth dropping in for a pint if you’re in Kingston.

This is a nice pub, these reviews are dated. Every time I go I always want to return - the bar staff are always friendly and helpful, if they don't do something they will suggest another. There is a nice atmosphere during the day with the locals chatting together. In the evenings I like to go on a Thursday when it it open mic night - the resident band bring a good clientell to the place, it is certainly not a chav pub although it is quite a mix with older people and families during the day to a lot of students during the night. The students tend to be harmless indie kids so there's rarely a fight or a fuss.

With the drinks the selection of ales is great, far more than in most pubs, basic larger but lots of spirits and wines.

There is a big beer garden looking right to the river which is nice. I remember in the summer they gave plastic cups for outside when it was busy which is fair enough but some of the customers tend to kick off at that which I think is a bit pointless besides it's not that big a deal.

The ram has a lot of parties - during the summer there was a beach party where they Filled the beer garden with sand; JAck Daniels night, Halloween. Sexy Santa Xmas and an austrailia day is coming up. These are great because the bar staff always go all out and dress up.
