| What a fail. There's a big guy behind the bar that literally doesn't understand his job. When there are 2 people waiting and one being served in your area, it is not acceptable to not know who's next! He kept serving others before me and even though it was quiet early evening time, it took so long to get served each time even by the other people on the bar, we left straight after our food came and went to the green man, where at least the bar staff have some urgency. Food was meh, same as all oneils but smaller and not as nice as the oneills in bromley and blackheath - maybe the kitchen staff here care about their jobs as little as the bar staff. The only reason I can think of to go here is if you're shopping on Carnaby and fancy a beer and can't be bothered to walk to anywhere good. Zombie - 22 May 2010 08:50 |
| Great bar. Was in there recently and they had a cracking band playing. A bit annoying in that the tourists keep coming in and out, and the pub is also strangely laid out, but overall I would definite return when I next visit London. john_thomas - 3 May 2010 16:14 |
| I really liked this place when it was the Firkin, . . . but now, thanks to certain aspects its nothing but a grotty little hole!, . . . unpleasent staff who have virtually no experience in customer relations, . . . very overpriced drinks, . . . & as for the food, you can get better in the bins at McDonalds!! - (if you do happen to eat there, at least the public toilets are right outside!) | I remember this place being the Dog and Trumpet years ago, changing into a Firkin before morphing into an O'Neills ( I await the inevitable change into an AB1) It's a bit deceptive here - the front area is spacious enough but along the narrow area to the right of the bar is a pleasant back room with a frosted conservatory style roof that is a nice place for a pint. The area means that it's a bit touristy but if you can sneak a seat in the back room it's really quite ok. murgatroyd - 21 Jun 2009 21:37 |
| REWARD-- TOTAL long shot- I was there on Friday night (3rd October)- one of a pair of american sisters. we were there 1 am till closing and then took a cab to our rented flat. it was an unmetered taxi, driven by a londoner of asian descent. I left my camera in the car. it's a canon sd750 digital elph in a black case with a Mt. Fuji sticker on it. I am offering a reward for the camera and/or the memory card- a good one. please please please contact me if you happen to chance upon it. you will get money and eternal good karma. dbruschi923@yahoo.com thanks! deebruschi - 7 Oct 2008 18:31 |
