Enjoying something of a new lease of life back under control of Altrincham's serial landlord Jake, ex of Wheasheaf, Hale Con Club, The Bakers and erm..HERE! The pub is clean, well stocked and according to the sign on the door, the hoodie/tracksuit brigade bemoaned in the last post are no longer welcome. There are always at least 2 Cask ales on, The pub had been awarded Cask Marque status too... Beers tend to be the pricier end of the scale though. Plenty of TV's now for watching the footy - Very busy when UTD are on - shows all the games via foreign satellite too! No food anymore but no chavs/dickheads either... Quiz night on a Thursday seems well attended. There is also a fortnightly Irish Night on a Sunday that arracts a good following. No pool table, Cavernous smoking area, and a no children policy make for a good, well run boozer. Oh and he has the trademark barmaids he was known for at the Wheatsheaf! coasterbloke - 17 Apr 2011 16:15
Not sure what has happened to this place since I last visited since had been modernised, It was dirty, they had no cask ales & hardly anything on the shelves behind the bar, the people in there were of the black tracksuit wearing variety & they were obviously friends of the 'bar staff'. Avoid this place at all costs. What a fall for this pub. LastSupper - 28 May 2009 11:46

Unfortunately the newness has now worn off, food is slow and poor when it arrives, Staff now come complete with attitude problems, used to be a good pub. No longer has TV or pool table. Walk on by. anonymous - 15 Oct 2007 10:49
Newly spruced up. Friendly staff, nice little beer garden. Food was slow to arrive but nice when it did. Recommended. uproar13 - 31 Mar 2007 16:28
