Now renamed the Dark Horse and been given a complete and tasteful refit. Staff vary from the polite to the completely incompetent, beer varies from excellent to mud.

Had a "to let" sign a little while ago, then more recently a sign offering the freehold for sale. Sign has gone and the pub is still open - let's hope it survives and isn't converted into flats, like so many others. (BTW I accidentally posted this onto the George & Dragon - afaik that's still all right)

A basic, no frills boozer located towards the top of Church Road. It a single room, U-shape pub with the bar in the middle. To the left of the bar is some old bench seating and a scattering of tables and chairs elsewhere.

There were several fruit machines, quiz machines, etc. dotted around, and a plasma in one corner near the door although the volume was turned down on this. There was a further area at the back of the pub, although this was in darkness so I didnít explore it.

It was very quiet on a recent Saturday evening, with only about half a dozen other punters in there at 9:00pm. The solitary barmaid was busy texting but stopped promptly enough to serve us. A little background music would probably have added to the atmosphere, it was mostly either too quiet or too noisy (when something had been put on the jukebox).

The only beer on offer was keg Courage Best unfortunately. Ciders were Blackthorn and Symondís Founders Reserve.

A local boozer, nothing special but they have OK ales and a pool table in a quiet area.
