Lost its licence so RIP Horse & Groom Bigjobby - 17 Oct 2008 09:15
Still closed. Local paper confirms today that the Police Chief Inspector wants licence permanently suspended for this and also owners excluded from The Coot pub in Horsham. At last. Drugs drugs drugs and aggression. Not exactly conducive to a nice night out. I knew the owners; I knew they were greedy, but drugs ? Disgusting. I hope they lose their remaining business. Can you imagine them running a B&B above a noisy town centre pub without even a fire escape ?! Eeyore1 - 12 Sep 2008 19:28
Agreed. Long overdue and hats off to Sussex Police. Eeyore1 - 27 Aug 2008 11:27
and I quote.... THE HORSE and Groom pub in Horsham has been shut down, after police presented evidence in court of cocaine use on the premises. The East Street pub will be boarded up and all access denied until midnight October 14, after a decision by Mid Sussex Magistrates Court in Haywards Heath yesterday afternoon (Friday August 15). Following a dramatic raid on Thursday August 7, police found cannabis and a small quantity of cocaine on the East Street premises. Scanning equipment used on surfaces in the pub gave high readings of cocaine residue, both in private and public areas, including on the pool table, according to a statement given to the court by Inspector Martin Pattenden. Magistrate Kenneth Berry said: "We are satisfied that closure is necessary to prevent serious nuisance and disorder, therefore we believe that the action we are taking in terms of issuing a closure order is appropriate." Well done Sussex police long, long overdue in my book. workhard - 26 Aug 2008 19:50
| Glad to see the Police finally acted to close down this place. The place cleaned up for a couple of years but it's back to being one of the biggest druggie pubs in the area again. And given the Police found traces of Cocaine and other drugs at two other premises belonging to the landlords, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise this is one pub to avoid.
