What a great place. Ham egg and chips for me and veggie moussaka for the lady, washed down with excellent vino and a pint of summer ale, all under 25 quid. Sat outside in huge superb garden watching a fairly ropey husband and wife duet run through some love songs. Excellent place and will definitely revisit if in the area. Would love to have the place as our local!!!

nice pub, in a very pretty village right out in some lovely buckinghamshire countryside. a lovely old building, the pub is split between two rooms, nicely kept, real fire, great service and well stored and pulled (fullers) ales.
definatly worth a visit.

The Czech chapter ended up being a rather sad time for the pub - standards of cleanliness soon slipped, as diod the firendliness of the welcome and, frankly, the standard of the food. They never quite got to grips with running a country pub.
The place is now under new and enthiastic management and there are clearly plans to make the place a success. A full redecoration is under way and the menu has been re-written - good, locally source, food.
Watch this space!

Have never posted a review before but having just visited this pub for lunch I agree with everything the last reviewer said. Yes, the new Management are Czech, and yes, everywhere was spotlessly clean, and yes, the food was excellent. The family running the pub are friendly and efficient. My partner had the Fish & Chips and I had Prawn Sandwich which was super value at £3.95. This price included a generous portion of chips, the bread was HOMEMADE! and delicious, the salad was the best I've tasted for a long time and the prawns were plentiful. We did not have to wait long but even if we had, any wait would be worth it for the quality of the food. Will definitely recommend it and intend to visit in the near future to try their Sunday Roast.

Went here for lunch because we enjoyed it in the days of the previous management. New management seems Czech and very attentive to detail and also clearly keen to succeed. The pub serves Fuller's London Pride and Chiswick Bitter on draught and the Chiswick was very well kept. An interesting menu but for a snack we just had their potato, bacon and leek dish which, whilst a little slow in coming, was excellent. It came with a side salad which was really great - immense detail taken in presentation and served in a superbly clean bar area. There is a well maintained outside lawn area with interspersed trees etc too. Made the "acid test". As a lady hotelier in Jersey told me years ago, if you want to pass judgement on any pub or hotel look first at the state of the Gents' Toilets! I did and the White Swan passed this test magnificently. All the above cost £18.40. Not super cheap but worth it. Would certainly go back when in the area again.
Thoroughly recommend a visit. Score would have been 9 or even 10 if service hadn't been a tad on the slow side.
