Popped into this pub on recent visit to Newark, great selection of ales available. Had Lancaster Black & Clarks Traditional both excellent. Food also reasonably priced and tasty. Would definately call back when back in newark

Great beer, great staff. I don't go to pubs to eat.

I have to disagree with the comments i have read, I frequent Newark fairly often to vist friends and we often find ourselves in the fox. every time i have been I have found the service fantastic the staff over helpful and there's always a cheery face on both sides of the bar. The food is good value for money and the band nights are great fun. I would truly recommend having a vist, if only to tease the grumpy yet amusing land lord I say this in jest he as fun as the rest of the staff there. it may not be the most happening place in Newark, but certainly one you can go and feel welcome and make a new friend or to. To the land lord and staff..... keep up the great work :)

Lovely beer served in the old fashioned way - one notch short of surly. But if you fancy a pint in Newark while you are waiting for a train, at least you won't get stabbed, which is more than can be said for some of the other pubs in Newark, such as the ones frequented by friends and relatives of the burglars shot by the famous and unjustly imprisoned farmer Tony Martin.
In my youth all pubs were like this, so it's a trip down memory lane. You will be absolutely guaranteed no-one will say "Have a nice day".
