Last post is a tad strange as sadly the pub has been boarded up and closed for nearly a month. huntsbeer - 11 Feb 2012 02:13
A good selection of ales on tap is usually to be found here. They've usually got rugby or football on, so it's not always the quietest place but still very civilised. mwascko - 5 Feb 2012 09:15
What a great find down a side street in Clapham. Seeking refuge from the d1@&heads looting and loitering on the High street, the only pub defiantly staying open other than those in the Old Town. Great choice of beers, I had Hullabaloo and CastleRock HPA, the Eli had Stowford Press- can't remember what the boy had fizz wise but there was a choice of around 8. Very cosy, clean reliable looking boozer. The sort of place you could send a tourist friend and know that they won't get ripped off or let down. We moved out back for the smokers into a garden through an alley way- very tardis like. In contrast to the old charm of the interior, the garden with a gazebo style affair lined with Chinese lanterns and fairy lights, with colour splashes of cobalt and Caribbean blue. Seemingly a great place to eat with a Cornish Grill every weekend. Look forward to it! huntsbeer - 17 Aug 2011 09:48
You just know that the ales and service here is going to be good as it is under similar management as the Eagle Ale House. And so it proved today on my first visit (which will now be one of many, especially on a weekend) with four excellent real ales including Loddon Hullabaloo, Hepworths Organic Bitter, Tintagel Castle Rock and a Dark Star. The "icing on the cake" though is the superb and good value food dispensed on weekends under a separate franchise by chefs, who have worked in Michelin starred restaurants, using all fresh ingredients and the finest Cornish fare. Food of this quality at this price is a very rare commodity indeed especially in a pub and even in most gastro-pubs. PS: No fear of ale served in hot glasses or plastic glasses here as experienced in other pubs employing inexperienced management and ignorant bar staff. craftman - 17 Jul 2011 20:20
I found this place by accident when looking for the Bread and Roses a couple of Fridays ago. I found it perfectly OK- friendly, not too crowded, reasonable beer selection- my Purbeck IPA was fine at £3.25. jagsfan - 10 Mar 2011 14:46
