| We visited this pub last weekend. We originally booked for Mother’s day at £29 per head for 3 courses but had to go a week earlier and paid £12.95 per head for two courses. We last visited the pub 13 years ago when it had a great reputation and great food to match. I understand there have been ownership changes and the day was something of a disappointment mainly because it did not live up to our expectations. As pub meals go it was good. I have paid £7 for a crap lunch and here we paid £12.95 for a hot tasty lunch and a good sized desert but in my opinion it was not the restaurant that it once was. The initial service was a bit confusing and not clear if we should wait or go to our table. Atmosphere was ok but the table for six that we had was a bit like a wallpaper paste table stuck in the middle of the floor. No complaints about waitress service as it was quick and the waitresses pleasant and helpful. I did not begrudge the amount paid but would have been a bit put out to pay £30 per head for mother’s day if the standard of the main course and desert was the same as we had. thesarus1 - 3 Mar 2008 22:32 |
