We found it very hard to find this pub and when we did we were dissapointed with what we found after so many good reviews.
It may have been the fact that there was a local kids birthday going on in the pub and the place was full of screaming kids.
Still a good beer garden though just bad timing for us 3/10

Still the best pub in the town and always a must when visiting on carnival day.The pint of St Austell "Liquid Sunshine" was divine. 8/10

Best Old School pub we found in Dawlish, by a long way.

It may be a 5 - 10 minute walk to the edge of the town, but it's worth it.

Staff and locals could not have been friendlier. Asking questions about where we were from and our Devon trip etc.

Thatcher's Gold and Dry ciders on draught. Unusually form me, I also sampled a few ales, which were excellent.

Food was a tiny bit pricey, but lovely.

If you like an old fashioned locals type pub, with plenty of dogs, then you must visit The Swan.

Small pub that is a five minute stroll away from town so seems to rely almost entirely on locals. Easily the best pub out of the seven we visited here in July though. Fantastic beer garden garden at the back is much bigger than you would expect and well kept by managers. We had a friendly chat over some perfect beer with the wonderful landlady, who could not have been more welcoming. Two locals drinking in the pub were also a good laugh. The town needs more pubs (and people) like this.

One of the last proper pubs around. Lots of friendly locals, very good real ales, decent smoking area, and welcoming landlord and lady. Thanks for some great evenings!
