| Popped in this evening and the barrels are propped up on the bar. Apparently just back from an outside bar over the weekend. Brakspears bitter, Jennings Cumberland (what is that?), Hobgoblin (couldn't resist it) and Marstons EPA. £3 a pint at present, but I'm sure it will get cheaper as time goes on... | Just "Murdochs" not "Diner and Bar". It isn't even vaguely American. Started going here 6 months ago on moving into the area and thought it a bit quiet. It grows on you... There is always a well kept real ale (so far 6X, Tea, Hobgoblin,Marstons EPA) and a choice of ciders and lagers. They do food, but the breakfast is the main attraction, also Pizza done in an oven by the bar. Check it out at www.murdochsreading.co.uk Brian0 - 4 May 2011 19:03 |
| Not a theme bar any more - almost back to a pub. Real Ale now available (I sampled a reasonable pint of Hogs Back TEA for a modest £2.50) The barman told me that they changed the ales on a fairly regular basis and the next beer would be Wadworths 6X. Still lacks a bit in comfort and ambience but in an area short on pubs (and certainly short of real ale) they must be commended. The number 1 bus stops outside. mcroyal - 9 Feb 2011 20:53 |
| Promises more on the outside than it delivers on the inside. No real ale, though I wasn't expecting any. Perhaps if they followed through with an American theme in interior they might get a bit more business? I don't really know what the point of the place is really. Quinno - 6 Feb 2009 13:11 |
