Very handy for the shops and the bus station. A comofrtable old fashined type pub, with a good range of drinks and the biggest and tastiest Ploughman's I've ever had. Seems to do good raost dinners as well! lutefisk - 13 Aug 2010 13:00
Four ales on though none from the island. Ringwood Fortyniner was quite drinkable. Handy for the bus station. GazzaTheBeerMan - 29 Sep 2009 15:04
Reliable pub. I've been in several times. Usually an Island ale on of some description. Have eaten at the George, too. Try the steak pie - amazing. Spent most of a Saturday afternoon in the George when 'The Goldie Lookin Chain' were on stage at the IOW music festival one year. I thought to myself, I'm not watching that rubbish. I'm going for a pie and a pint of ale at The George. Jonnysaint - 26 Sep 2009 18:43
Like the poster from Detroit, I remember this pub when Bunnie (surname George by coincidence) ran the pub. It's changed a a lot, but it's normally possible to get a seat for a pint of well kept, if somewhat expensive, beer. mews4x - 18 Feb 2009 17:11
