Youngs err, Wells pretty much ruined the asmosphere of the place with its last makeover. JohnBonser hit the nail on the head with his observation of 'sanitized'. However I've found this to be a nice welcoming daytime pub. The food is good and reasonably priced, the Youngs and Bombadier are always well kept. The staff are friendly and efficient. Its a good "lunch & 2 pints" kind of place. For the black lung brigade they've created a pair of heated and sheltered spaces on the front patio. Zaphod - 12 Nov 2007 15:14
No good Agree with previous reviews when debbie and her husband ran this (before the current owners) this place was packed. Always used to pop in as our office was nearby and the beer and service was always A1 NOW its gone totally downhill and is a great shame have looked at other reviews on pubs in this area and a few punters are saying the same about this place to sum up used to be good, as they say all good things come to an end eh? The prince william henry has indeed SHAME !!! anonymous - 29 Jul 2007 02:28
Been here a couple of times, not local to the area but work occasionaly requires us to visit an office near here. First time we went one Thursday night and the place was deserted, which we thought was odd so moved on. The next couple of times though were better although it never gets busy. They have a dart board and a quiz machine, which was enough to keep us entertained. Staff are generally good, particulalrly the young Colombian lass. Beer selection is not great but you can generally find some where to sit, unfortunately there is no real atmosphere although I have not been in here on a weekend. Caterhamite - 16 Jun 2007 12:57
Sadly soulless place but the beer is ok. Strange lack of choice though, Ordinary or Bombardier. Still its better than working and is only walking distance from the office ! fenton - 1 Apr 2007 16:35
Not much to add to John Bonser's review other than to say that the Ordinary is usually better than "rather moderate" but not often great. Seems to change management too often to develop a personality, which considering that lack of any other distinguishing features it definitely needs. The main selling point is the large outside seating area, but again the Rose & Crown is better. All in all, not bad & not great. carstenp - 14 Oct 2006 09:52
