Called in for lunch after a 7 mile walk around the local countryside and found this place the perfect refuelling spot. A nice pint of Woodforde's Wherry and generous portions of really well prepared food soon replaced the lost calories. The landlord and his wife were friendly and helpful. The only problem was the bar was a tad on the chilly side. Otherwise, a really good place.

Maybe they don't like summer! Visited for lunch in September. Staff were freindly, beer was well kept and the food very good. I'd go again

My family and I are staying in Ringstead for a week in October so we had a daytrip up to have a look around. After a 2.5 hour drive up we found the lovely cottage that we would be staying at and then headed to the local pub for a beer and a bite, "The Gin Trap"....... A big disapointment, not very welcoming and the Lady boss had the hump and it seems an attitude problem to tourists !!!!

So we won't be back for a pint or more in October, BUT, found a lovely pub in Holme next the sea called, "The White Horse" who could not have been more welcoming and served delicious food at great prices and some great guest ales, and only a mile and a half from Ringstead.

So do yourselves a favour...drive past "The Gin Trap" and head to "The White Horse" at Holme Next the sea.

This pub was very disappointing. The staff don't know how to deal with complaints. I was served a beefburger which was raw inside, although I had ordered medium. When I mentioned it to the lady who took my money, she said that she had asked me whether the food was OK and I had said yes. I explained that had been before I had cut into the burger, and that it wasn't appropriate to ask whether the food is OK before I had even tasted it. She didn't even apologise. The beer was OK though!

Visited this pub over the Easter Holidays 2009. The food was very tasty and the ale, Woodforde's Wherry, was really nice. They had another ale on, and it was either Abbot's or Adnam's, I can't remember which. The pub itself was beautiful - a very traditional country pub built of stone with an old fashioned latched wooden door. There is a 'modern' restaurant extension at the rear. The staff were attentive, but not intrusive. I would visit again for food and drink.
