Great pub in a stunning location, beer (Cropton Brewery Tap) is superb along with the food. The service can get a little strained if busy but it is well worth it. My only other comment, it would be nice if they had a guest ale from somewhere to compliment their own range but on the whole an outstanding country pub Bluejonno - 6 Jan 2012 17:39
| Country pub, that brews its' own beers, ranging from 3.6% to over 6%. Bottles can be bought to take away. Tried a pint of the Amber (5%), not to my liking, bit of harsh taste. Next, a pint of IPA (5%), which |I would highly recommend. Then a pint of Blackout (5%), which was a stout with a strong but strange treacle flavour, unsure about this one, might have to go back and have another pint. Place does food, the chips are possibly the best I've ever had in a pub. Dog friendly. Only gets 8 out of 10, as too family friendly. If dogs have to be kept on leads, so should children. son_of_odin - 21 Feb 2011 13:08 |
Visited in the last week. Very impressed by the friendly welcome , range of beer and good food. Well done. We had sea food platter £22.95 for two, very nice. I thoroughly recommend this pub. mineisalandlord - 9 Oct 2010 17:02
Lots of good things to say about this pub. Their own beers are top notch and the guests are interesting and well chosen, though on my visits staying in the village, lower gravity beers were less well represented. Service was helpful and quick. Lots of people (locals and trippers) come in for an early supper and then it becomes more of a straightforward pub. The menu is not adventurous but the quality was fine and one doesn't need every place to become a gastro-pub. The interior is typical country inn. 25 years since I was last there, but the standard has remained high. Arctium_lappa - 12 Apr 2010 16:52
Great pub with cracking ale and food. The ever changing selection of Cropton beers is complimented by the Morrissey Fox range and some crafted larger if that is more to your fancy. The food is excellent and the portions massive (not sure why they have a sweet menu). The greetings have always been welcoming (visited the pub half a dozen times over a five month period) and the use of oversize glasses ensures you get a full pint of top ale. The many rooms ensure there is somewhere for everybody, and there is a pool table, dart board and TV. Hope to be visiting again soon Ben_Nevis - 22 Jan 2010 20:06
