user reviews of the Cobbles Inn, Kelso

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Cobbles was the first place we sample on Saturday morning in Kelso. It's tucked away off a corner of the main square and has the feeling of a wine bar/bistro. There is a dining area to the left as you enter, with a bar to the right with a few small tables. This is still the brewery tap for the Tempest Brewery. Their Best Bitter & Armadillo Pale were the two cask ales. But they also had a number of keg options and more bottles of Tempest beers. The atmosphere was relaxed and they obviously have a loyal local following. Service was friendly. A good option when in the town.

Utterly fantastic!
Best food for miles around, local produce, great value, fine dining, refined or easy grub: everything is possible.
Absolutely wonderful staff, very friendly and extremely helpful and professional. The manager (Michael ?) is an absolute treasure: professional and friendly, well in charge of everthing that happens around him.
You can come here for a gastronomic feast, but drinkers are welcome. And drinkers have every reason to visit this pub: it is the brewery tap for the local Tempest Brewing Company who're producing some absolutely cracking beers. Up to four or five ales from Tempest are available. At the moment of our visit they had Into the Light, Emanation Pale Ale, the heavier Pale Ale, Cresta Black and Brave New World IPA (keg).
Absolutely amazing pub. Great food, great beers, great service, expert and friendly staff. 10 out of 10!

Revisited recently. Was not disappointed - the beer really is excellent and so is the food. One of the few places worth going out of your way to visit.

What a great place! Own brewery, on my visit the American-style IPA was excellent, the Porter was fine too, but a little sweet and coffee-ish. Although it is definitely a pub, it does specialise in high-quality food - I thought the venison burger was excellent, and very fairly priced too. Highly recommended!
