| I don’t know, I suggested this pub and then trenchlad steals my thunder :-). As he says it’s next door to The Station pub and across the road from The Crown, both of which are renowned for their cask ale, so it’s got quite a bit of competition. Has a paved “garden” style area at the front with large umbrellas for the smokers. The left hand room is painted green and has a pool table, it’s usually quieter in here. The right hand room is a red painted lounge, effectively split into two by a dividing wall with a large screen TV at the bottom end of each side. It also has a quiz machine in this room. Four ales on when I called last night, Banks’ Original and Bitter, Bombardier and London Pride. I’m always a little wary of having anything but the Banks’s in here as I’ve been served a couple of ropey pints in the past. Decided to have a Bombardier anyway and it was pretty good this time. It’s OK in here, but I only ever have one as the microbrews next door start calling to me. ROBCamra - 11 Jun 2009 15:45 |
| Sports bar style pub next door to the Station and across the road from the Crown . Lounge has usual big screens showing sporting events . Three real ales on Bankss original / bitter and Hook Norton 303 which i had (not bad ) . During the day you get a mixed bunch from the local alkies to grannies and workers having the Fish and Chips 99p special , at night and weekends a younger crowd but with a good few oldies . A good pub of its type . trenchlad - 1 Jun 2009 20:49 |
