still a lot to commend it- excellent food and the gorgeous location can't change, but has taken a real slide downhill in terms of keeping beer and staff who know what they're doing. Badly needs to make more effort.

Had an excellent stay here late in 2009. Beer was excellent, along with the food.
Wish I'd been there in the 60's (see Latitudes comment below).

Love this pub!!!

Dont get to go as often as i would like, as i am from wimborne area, but this is my idea of a top pub. does everything its sposed to do, create atmosphere, fantastic food, and great beer and wine.

Went there for a big meal before my brothers wedding, we got looked after fantastically, was a tuesdasy night and still was packed.

I would suggest you all take a look, its a little hard to find, but once you get ther you have reached pub perfection.

This was one of my first regular watering holes in the 60s. Single stone flagged room with fire place and the bar was a hole in the wall. Don't recall that they did anything as poncy as food! Gents was a screened off part of the yard with a hole in the ground - raining and you got wet! Used to be good for "lock ins". Gradually "gentrified" over the years but was still OK last time I was in.
