| Pleasant pub (landlady has had a recent clearout of undesirables). Pool table, jukebox, dartboard - decent local. No real ale, which is sometimes a bad thing but at least ensures the place isn't festooned with bearded oafs. Sithehatwearer - 7 Oct 2011 14:51 |
| Way back in the 70s, I and a lot of my peers used to effectively have 3 locals. Here, The Highland Laddie across the road and The Albert (now closed). As with the Laddie it’s probably over 10 years since I’ve been in here. It used to be nicknamed the sixth form canteen as so many of us went in. This pub is one fairly small room with a pool table in one corner and a DJ stand in another. There was karaoke on last night and the music was blasting out to 9 or 10 rather sad looking people. No real ale of course so I had a pint of Carling, yeuk! There’s a sign on the main door that says “Selling stolen goods in here is strictly prohibited, if caught you will be barred”. There’s a sign in the gents that says “Only one person to a cubicle, if you get caught you will be barred”. Oh it’s a class place is this now. I finished my pint of fizzy crap in double quick time and left. I doubt if I’ll ever call in here again. It’s pretty sad really as this was my local for at least 5 years.
