user reviews of the Tally Ho, Royston

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Food prices a little on the steep side but the quality of the food was pretty unarguable. All well-cooked and home-made, particularly the chips which is the touchstone of a quality operation. Beer wise two well-kept pints of Old Oak(?) which I believe was a mild. If back in the area I'd happily return.

We tried to do a walk from the Fox and Hounds in Barley which was not currently a going concern so we stopped off here on the way back. Tiny but cosy living room bar and I had an excellent Highwayman IPA from Buntingford direct from the cask. My wife had a very nice chilean merlot, and there was a good atmosphere with locals and a real fire. The menu looked interesting, with rabbit curry and venison but we didn't eat so I couldn't attest to the quality. Be interested to return and find out though

Called in here a couple of times now. Pleased with the choice of three real ales. A previous reviewers "living room feel" about it is spot on.
Although the pub is not exactly on my doorstep I might return for an evening meal. Though would have preferred the prices to be a couple of pounds cheaper.

Great little country Free house, very much for the locals.
Ale options were Buntingford Highwayman, Nethergate IPA and Marlow IPA. Ales served from the cask not pumped.
Also on offer was Aspalls cider on draught, Amstel Lager and Bitburger Lager on draught.
The bar area is very small with an open fire and lots of brass things hanging on the walls. There is a larger resturant area, The food choice looked good although in my opinion very expensive for a pub.

Quintessential English pub name where I had a Japanese lager served by a Slovakian barmaid! Small front bar that looks like someones living room with a restaurant area to the rear.
