A little gem down on the quayside, a proper pub, friendly people and staff and the Sam Smiths was second to none.Had the old cask and the stout both were in tip top order. A must on any beer stroll in the area. AqualungCumbria - 29 Apr 2012 13:41

On a Tyne side pub crawl this one is never missed. Great bar and Sam Smiths Old Brewery. Try fish and chips on the near by Fish Quay. hartlepool - 3 Jul 2008 17:06
One of the friendliest pubs in Shields. Sam Smiths Old Brewery Bitter kept at its best, a roaring fire in the bar to keep out those winter chills. Always one on my regular crawl round the town. zipdiskdude - 4 Feb 2008 15:54
Sam Smith's pub, rare in the area, so very cheap high quality beer. Nice interior, cracking atmosphere and good old-fashioned pub food from the bar. Highly recommended. Carlurmston - 14 Jun 2007 12:28
