user reviews of the New Inn, Wolverhampton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I walked in through the first door into the porch area, over the second set of doors is a sign that says "Crackheads F**k Off To Hell". Oh great I thought, but I went in anyway. I was half expecting a scene from "Toughest Pubs in Britain" so I was slightly disappointed to find a huge shabby lounge with a couple of real crusties sat at the tables and a couple more at the bar. I went to the bar which had Banks's Original & Bitter on handpump. The barmaid finished serving a person at the other end of the bar and then went back to reading her paper. After a couple of strategic coughs she looked up and then started reading again. I thought bollocks to this and left. I suspect the beer was crap anyway. It's a desperate dive, don't go in.

The handpulls serve Banks's MILD and bitter and at £1.80 a pint the MILD is about the cheapest in the town/city apart from the Wetherspoons where it is £1.39.

The bar is a big room and the lounge is massive. The pub opens early at 10am which is useful to know. Beers are well kept.
