I think people are a little hard on this place. Yes it is modern, but tastefully so. Big and comfy and perfect Youngs bitter (pretty steep, as others mention.) V nice on a late Sunday afternoon.

It might be by the water, but spending time here is pretty depressing, catering to a mixture of residents from the above dystopian nightmare more commonly known as 'luxury flats' and nearby office workers seemingly with more money than taste.

It looks rather like mid-range hotel bar - with the atmosphere to match. Anyone after a better pub experience in the area would be advised to look on BITE at some of the other pubs in Vauxhall - there are three or four better places nearby.

Having decided to give the Riverside a try, even though the reviews might have suggested otherwise I have to say I was amazed at the improvement in service, food and over all atmosphere.
Two of my friends had had a bad experience with a surly waiter in the past, but it was obvious to me that they have a new management team and as we didnt recognise any of the staff a new floor and bar team too!
The problems seem to have been fixed, we enjoyed our meal, and left much later and much merrier than planned. Will be back!!

I had booked a table at The Riverside as recommended by a friend for Sunday lunch last week but upon reading these reviews, whilst looking for directions, i got rather concened.

We were greated upon arrival by a very friendly waiter who gave us an outside table with great views down the river.

We were informed that The Riverside had recently employed a new head chef due to problems with food quality and we were handed menus that looked rather appetising. Most of us had the Sunday roast which was a plate full of succulent meat and veg but a couple of the party were more adventurous and opted for the Kangaroo burger and Whole Roasted Sea Bass which both had great reviews.

i would definately recommend The Riverside as a venue. Yes it isn't cheap but you get what you pay for! (we paid £13.95 for a roast and £2.90 for a pint of Bitter)
