Not bad. Nice beer (I had Harvey's Mild - excellent condition), but even nowadays £3.10 for a 3.0% beer is not a bargain. Seemed to be a lot of affluent retired people in the clientele (Sat. lunchtime) There is nothing really wrong with the place, but I had time to stay for another beer - and didn't bother. For me, it just did not inspire. newbury_drinker - 27 Aug 2011 23:52
One of those "not as good as it thinks it is" pubs proving that looks can be deceiving. Beer average, food below average and grossly overpriced. Gerremin - 14 May 2011 13:07
What a pretty pub in a sussex village. It took good 5 mins to read all the don`t do notices in the entrance, No boots,no dogs at certain times no children here or there. Got past that to eat. Evening meal rushed at end,not offered pudding menu or coffee. Restuarant being laid up for breakfast for B&B whilst we were eating. Mine Hosts obviously waiting for us to leave, hovering over us. The food was not good enough to suffer such treatment. Will not go again. graysussex - 19 Mar 2011 11:19

Visted last sunday for my mothers birthday. Did not pre-book and with a 2 year old in the group of four the staff could not be more accomodating in a busy restaurant. A lunchtime meal for 4 including deserts, drinks, and coffees coming to £60. The waitresses were very helpful arranging a child 's seat at the table in the busy dining room, nothing appeared to much to ask. The Harvey's old ale was of v.good quality and the food will only ensure we will visit again. There is something good about being in a busy village pub at 3pm on a Sunday and not wanting to leave. PS..Try the mussels in garlic sauce. It will not disappoint. ethsteve - 24 Feb 2011 22:16
