user reviews of the Black Horse, Melbourn

June, down to 2 ales now, IPA and Wherry.
Different bar staff again and we got well overcharged for a round.

My boyfriend and I went here for a Valentines meal - not really sure what to expect as we're not from the area and the Black Horse has no website. I'm happy to say we were really pleasantly suprised. The pub itself is gorgeous - really quaint and the staff are lovely. The food was exquisite - perfect portions and very reasonable. My only minor criticism is that it was quite (undeservedly) quiet - but perhaps that was because regulars didn't watch a load of loved up couples! Having said that, the layout is such that the drinkers and diners have their own space and the atmosphere adapts for both. I would definitely recommend the Black Horse for drinkers and diners alike.

This is one of my local pubs.
Not the same as it used to be, Taken over by those folks from south of the equator who took out the bar stools and tried to make it a fancy resturant.
Having said that the Ale is fairly good and they now have bar snacks again.
Not over impressed with the menu or the price.

Used to be the place to go every friday and saturday. Now its a gastro food led pub with crap ale run by those charmless people from south of the equator.
Why do they come here and take away the bars stools and serve the ale ice cold.
Cant even get a bag of normal salt and vinegar crisps.

Great village pub. Offers traditional pub grub and a la carte food as well!! Had a great meal, but cant wait for summer it has a huge garden.
