ITS JUST BEEN EXTENSIVELY REFURBED(IT DID NEED IT) AND IT IS SMASHING AGAIN.THE AWFUL WHITE FLOORING IS GONE AND A NEW WOODEN DANCEFLOOR HAS TAKEN ITS PLACE. NEW LIGHTING AND A COSY WARM COLOURED CARPET AND WALLS HAVE ALL REPLACED THAT AWFUL GREEN. A NEW MENU & 2 NEW CHEFS SHOULD ENSURE GOOD FOOD IS BACK ON THE BARBICAN.

THIS PUB IS A LEGEND. THE LANDLORD IS THE BEST. NOT FOR THE DELICATE THIS PUB SERVES WAR HEROES FROM AROUND THE GLOBE. WE NEED TO HAVE SOMEWHERE TO LET OFF STEAM AND THIS IS THE BEST PLACE WHERE WE CAN GO AND ENJOY OURSELVES. GAME SHOW ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON IS A MUST AND ALTHOUGH THE JUDGE IS A BIT BIASED SOMETIMES, HE DOES GIVE IT AWAY TO THE NEEDY.
PETE IS THE SORT OF LANDLORD YOU NEED WITH BIG BURLY MARINES EVERYWHERE BUT BOY OH BOY IS HE THE TOPS.

Falkland memorabilia adorns the walls. The floors are tiled. Seating is at a premium. Squaddies drink here when on leave. Avoid at night but during the day it's a decent palce to play a bit of pool or sit outside by the harbour, and don't let anyone tell you any differant.
Good for: Summer afternoons but avoid if Argyle are at home. Away fans seem to congregate there and you can't blame them because the Barbican is the natural place to go if you are visiting the city for the first time.
