Not as unfriendly as it seems at first glance and the beer is very good value (Fosters is £2.30 a pint). A real mix of ages and backgrounds and, despite the appearance of some of the customers, no trouble whatsoever. Perhaps this reflects a laid-back community spirit, or perhaps the effects of the unusual tobacco being smoked at the outside tables. A great pub to watch the football or have a chat. The staff are on the ball, keeping a close eye on the bar. Great pub - better than anything else in the area. apbj - 26 May 2009 17:36
Pub is a bit shabby but it had 2 real ales on Black Sheep & Sussex Best, although one went off when I was there Service OK. 6.60 for 2 pints and 2 packs of crisps. TheHorsesMouth - 7 May 2009 09:06
A large bright pub. Tried the youngs special which was poor. The barman tried it after he pulled my pint and pulled a funny face which didnt suggest to me that it was in the best condition! Other customers eating various different takeaways in the pub left a nasty smell, not somewhere that i would like to go again! sideshowbob - 15 Jan 2009 17:52
Have made the mistake of hiring crap bands. They turn up, play their own songs super loudly then when they finish all their groupies leave. This makes the pub look emptier than usual. A shame as this had recovered somewhat from the chavfest it trned into. Hammerstein - 5 Oct 2008 01:48
rampantwurzel - good news. the white hart is a great pub, although it may have a poor selection of real ales. and the food does vary, cheap and plentiful but not always the best quality but they do try. personally i have had many a good time there over the last 7 years. It has a wide variety of customers, young and old, local and new to the area and it manages to provide something for all of them. As for this chav business what you mean is that it actually has some young locals in it. This may seem unusual in London, and indeed this sort of thing seems to upset a lot of people, but this pub is all the better for it. (sussh dont tell anyone but I heard that most of them dont even have a first degree let alone a post-graduate qualification) If you want a pub with a clientel that consists of 90% graduates from outside of London then this isnt the pub for you. But if you want a pub with a good mix of people where you might end up having a laugh then give it try. tombs - 29 May 2008 16:03
