Situated between the river and the sea this is a great Adnams pub with plenty of character I prefer it to any pub in Southwold never tried the food.

Never been in the summer but for me its a great winter pub after walking the dog.

One of my favourite haunts, I am (arguably)lucky enough to only visit this pub out of holiday season when I hear it is packed to the nines with holiday makers. The beer is always excellent and the uneven floors catch me out every time. The food is very good and uncomplicated. There are not many pubs I would rather spend an afternoon sipping Adnams in than this and the garden's great too. Always been happy with the service.

The beer is always good, Adnams well kept. The food on offer is excellent and the portions can be immense! The young waiting staff in the busy summer weekend lunchtimes are very efficient.

A superb Adnams pub serving a great selection of their ales. Visited on a very busy weekend but plenty of room and staff so got a table and served quickly at the bar. Recommended!

Walked along the dunes from Southwold and arrived via the foot-ferry (a well-worth-it 70p in a rowing boat). The pub was very quiet at 17:30 so some sporting rivalry continued over a game of dominoes; good pub guide suggests that they also have shove-ha'penny & boules. Usual Adnams beers were good, the pub was attractive with wood panelling, a nice looking breakfast room for the hotel to one side, a huge grassy beer garden to the rear past which was a view of the sea. Tried to book accom here but they have a two-night minimum stay.
