| The staff are always huddled together at one end of the bar, completely oblivious to anyone requiring service. They don’t use optics, but use a small metal measure which they never fill up, which is a bit of a cheek, when a pint of Kronenberg and a large G&T is over a tenner. The real problem is that there is no competition, if there was a halfway decent traditional pub within walking distance then this place would be empty, but unfortunately there isn’t.! | Unlike the other contributors I prefer this to the Fox@Connaught but there isn't much to choose between them. Great for watching football. TheHorsesMouth - 10 Apr 2008 13:14 |

| Hmmm what can I say? Fox@connaught is better, excel is like being in a cellar, a bit dark. Good when theres an exhibition on at Excel, dead when theres not. whogaarden - 10 Feb 2008 00:10 |
| I prefer the Fox Connaught, but the San Miguel was cold here also. Needs to be looked after a little bit more and the staff could speak better English. But it was great for the footy at the weekend. ICECOLDBEER - 29 Jan 2008 12:20 |
