People such as harperp3 Tightfart are typical of the real ale facists that think it's disgusting that common "Tradesmen and building type people should be allowed to drink in pubs(what makes it worse is that some them have the gall to drink lager!) Thankfully it would appear that they will returning. The pub is well run and friendly, I would recommend people to give it a try, unless you pompous pr**t* like those 2. mickbye - 2 Sep 2011 13:28
Shame as the pub has been there for over 100 years. The bar area is small with separate dining area. Large kid areagarden. Green Kings IPA & Adnams so yet again the usual suspects. Seems to be popular with “Tradesmen” in week and families at weekends. One pint was enough no plans to return here. harperp3 - 18 Feb 2011 16:20
Pub going down hill fast, busy with builders and tv screeens, looks a right mess outside, shame. Tightfart - 28 Jul 2010 14:53
I visited this pub June 2009. If you want well cooked food and value for money then don't go to this pub.The staff seemed nice enough but the food was terrible. My family ordered three steaks and they came overcooked and dry, tasted like they had been cooked the previous night and warmed up. We also ordered two vegetarian roasts, the sunday roast but without the most expensive part, the meat. Normally a beef sunday roast costs £9.50 - for a plate of vegetables, minus the meat, they charged us £9.50. To add to this they couldn't even cook to potatoes properley, they were hard. I would never go to this place again. distelgesic - 9 Jul 2009 12:45
I would never visit this pub again. I frequented it in my youth, and recently revisited the Merry Fiddlers for a lunchtime drink. It had changed since my last visit of 10 years previously, but the patio decking and the menu seemed nice, so I booked a table for a Saturday evening dinner with my elderly mother. The service was a little slow, but the waitresses were very chatty, helpful and pleasant. My mother wished to pay, and commented afterwards that it was a little expensive at £73 for two. I returned and politely asked to see the bill. After a long wait, a member of staff came out, gave me a £20 note and said I'd been overcharged. I politely asked again to see the bill. 10 minutes later, no bill. I asked to see the manager, but no joy. Eventually I went behind the counter and found him. I was eventually given a copy of the bill - we'd been overcharged by £30.90. At no stage did 'Roy' apologise - he brusquely cut my explanation short, looked at the bill versus the credit card receipt, and gave me £31, saying he wouldn't 'quibble' over 10 pence. Quite frankly, I've never service this bad from any UK, American or European restaurant, including Mcdonalds and Burger King! AVOID davidashley - 5 Jul 2009 00:17
