Nice evening pub, although the only thing that has let it down for me was on the 2 Friday evenings I've been in, it turns into a bit of a creche with kids running around everywhere (inside and out). Call me a stickler, but there is a time and a place. Bar staff pleasant and accomodating, serves a good pint. Dave8 - 7 Nov 2008 13:09
My wife and I visited this pub at the end of June 2008. It's a charming place with a quaint rear courtyard (mostly populated with smokers). Watch out for the low beams, the inglenook fireplace and the tasteful furnishing. It's mostly a hangout for the older more affluent crowd but not at all snobby like some establishments. No one minded our windswept camping garb when we strolled in and caught the Spain v Russia game. (The Spanish barmaid was very happy that evening !) Pricewise, Oxfordshire is probably above average, but no more so that other local pubs. The food smells emanating from the kitchen were to die for, but our budget didn't stretch that far ! watsonworld - 29 Jun 2008 18:51
The bar is ok, but the food is appalling. The bed and breakfast rates are extortionate. Nottinghamian - 2 Dec 2007 10:08
The George is famed in the town for its dreadful standard of function catering, anyone who's been to a do there will tell you. But the bar isn't too bad, usual hotelish range and pricey for what it is and there's a nice courtyard for hot days. nickdavies - 26 Jul 2006 12:13
