We passed the Carpenters Arms looking for another pub. I am glad we stopped. Although a bit late for lunch the landlady was welcoming and said she could organise some food. We chose Goats cheese terrine, fish and chips and a cauliflower and Ashmore cheese tart. The cheese terrine was excellent coming with pickled celery and walnuts artfuly arranged with pear sauce on a slate. I am not a fan of food on logs or slates but it was very tasty and was obviously well thought about. The fish and chips were excellent too with a crunchy spicy beer batter, smashed peas and lovely chunky home made chips. The home made cauliflower tart was rich and cheesy with new pots.

The Shepherd Neame beer was also fresh and well kept.

Definately worth a detour and full marks from us.

A party of six visited this pub for Sunday lunch. The landlord, Mitch, and his staff were really welcoming. The beer was very good and at a good temperature. The food was good. The best was the Thai Style Sea Bass. The roasts were average but the portions were large and the veg was very tasty. Puddings were big and lovely. The garden was welcoming and they allow well behaved pets there and in the pub. There are two enormous inglenook fireplaces, one of which was roaring with two sofas infront of it. I would happily return and do recommend this pub.

It is in a pretty quiet little village. It has a resturant and a outdoor seating area. The Carpenters Arms sells a variety of hat and cold drinks, and is owned by a very nice couple.
