Pubco owned place not far from Wimborne up a side road. The staff all seemed pretty bored when we arrived, with very little custom. Despite this and the number of unoccupied tables, the front of house man kept telling people they should have made reservations. The local CAMRA magazine had voted this place pub of the season for Autumn. But the range of ales on offer was fairly disappointing - Everards Tiger Triple Gold, Ringwood Best, Sharps Doom Bar & Fullers London Pride. The latter was replaced by Acorn Barnsley Bitter whilst we were there. Aspalls was the cider. Service was fairly professional. The building itself is fairly large and has character. As a freehouse, this could be so much better.

Went back again on the 30th of January 2010 (I've been a few of times in between that visit and the visit in March, probably about 5 visits in 2009)

Great food, a really good beef, mushroom and Guinness pie. Very nice scampi, fantastic open chicken pie. Dunno if the kitchen is doing pre-prepared meals or cooking to order but it's all very good.

Tonic water in G&T was fizzy, Sharp's Doombar was very well presented and the wine was declared good too.

Service with a smile. This pub has the same faces as a year ago. Same manager, same bar staff and same waiting staff. They are friendly without exception. It's dog friendly to boot and it's good value for money.

Well worth a 9. Great example of what a chain pub can do, when it's run properly.

Hard one to call this, a real mix on my only visit to date. The food is not expensive. The beer - TT Landlord - was very good. Average beer prices for region. Wine was expensive, a large glass costing more than a bottle of the same stuff (£6.80 for a rather average Sancerre)

A good selection of meals but a lot of the food is obviously out of the freezer (Yorkshire puds were awful and the spuds were past their best) roast beef however, was excellent. Portions were enormous, so I'd give it a 9 for value for money.

Staff varied immensely. I suspect a lot of them were either new or just in for Mothering Sunday, so service was erratic. Starters arrived quickly, main course took three-quarters of an hour.

Parking is a bit tight, as noted elsewhere and the garden was a mecca for smokers but it's a dog-friendly pub, it's clean, it's spacious and we will be returning, to see what it's like on a 'normal' day.

Visited for Sunday lunch and can highly recommend this pub for good service (even in the garden) and glorious food. The varied menu makes it ideal for a mixed party of meat, fish and vegetarian eaters, as we were. I started with a mixed meze (prawns, salmon, warmed camembert, chorizo and salad) for 2 which was perfect for 4 of us when combined with the breaded mushrooms! I then went for the Goats cheese and nut wellington with trimmings including roast spuds, roast parsnips and Yorkshire pud - both courses were perfectly cooked and presented. My only regret is that we were too full for dessert. We noticed that the pub was popular with wheelchair users as there were no steps to negotiate and plenty of room to manoeuvre.

Six of us went today (25th Jan,2009) for a meal, using the vouchers. We booked a table by phone. Service was very prompt, and the waitresses were friendly and attentive. What can I say about the food ? - EXCELLENT is the only way I can put it, and my opinion is echoed by my fellow diners. My wife and I regularly eat at this venue and we've never had a bad experience. If I HAVE to find something to moan about, I suppose it's the size of the helping of chips they serve with my beer-batter fish......could perhaps do with more chips ! - But I had to think hard to come up with a criticism !
