Very friendly staff, great food, extensive wine list, clean and comfortable bedroom - well worth a visit

Lovely location in Sussex countryside. Good food and beer and a welcoming atmosphere.

We were on the way back from Eastbourne to London and decided to stop at the pub on a Sunday for lunch. The menu was good English food with a fantastic local cheesebourd. The sun was up and the decking was inviting, albeit a little cold - fortunately the real fire was available (theyre always so busy in London). A great selection of wine (unlike other pubs we have been to) and as I found out selected by a specialist Vintner allowed us to chill out for the rest of the day - to the point where we picked up a B&B for the evening (boyfriend had too many ales). It pro-longed our stay which I can honestly say was as good as it gets in the country for me. Not another pub for miles, and the patrons were brilliant. Nice Change from London!

Under new management all is changing. I cannot believe the previous comments as the beer was fantastic, the food all fresh and from local sources, the atmosphere superb and the people all friendly.

They are even having a new decked area for 30 people outside the south facing front - I know where I'll be enjoying my Harveys.

Visited briefly towards the end of a boozy eveniing tour a while back. Never again. Very unfriendly. Harveys was crap and for some reason was served from a polypin on the bar when there was an unused handpump on the bar. We couldn't wait to move on.
