user reviews of the Cotton Tree, Winewall

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I started to type a review in December 2009 and my review ended up just saying "2". That's nonsense, I meant to put what a pleasant pub this is. And it is, as well. Thank you for your attention, and please ignore my earlier review, because my finger slipped and it ended up as rubbish.

Called in on a Sunday afternoon. Beer was very good, saw no food, and lots of locals including a lot of young families There was a civilized and relaxed atmosphere. It is alright wittering about not looking 'olde' but the inside feels and looks like most real local pubs looked like 40 years ago, not like some made up marketing lie about what pubs looked like 400 years ago.

this pub is right next to ball grove park and is a great building in an excellent setting. however the inside of the pub is disappointing. the carpet and decoration are poor and do not reflect the 'olde england' area within which the pub is situated.
the food is also very poor. i ordered a chicken dish which the menu made to sound like would be prepared by gordon ramsey. when it turned up it literally looked like a slab of chicken microwaved with some chicken tonight thrown over it -it was very poor.
apart from this the staff are fine and the beer (especially the real ale) is excellent. it is a boring pub unless you find 'mandy/warren/dave -great local singer' entertaining.
