| This pub is mainly frequented by doctors and staff from the Royal London, a smattering of students, and I've even seen a hen party. It gets busy at times but the bar staff are generally quick and efficient (and friendly). Drinks are okay, the occasional flat lager aside. However the place could do with a serious tidy up or even a make over. Its general shabbiness is real put off. They do good trade so why not? A shame because Whitechapel is lacking in decent pubs. randompubgoer - 26 Sep 2010 19:59 |
| I also work near by and drink in the good samaritans and i find the beer and ales always good. The bar staff and managers helpful. oxfordtown - 25 Sep 2010 19:06 |
| I've only got bad things to say about this one. I too work locally to here and have been twice - twice too many. They clearly don't have a first clue how to run a pub, for which here are my reasons: 1) Music too loud and doesn't fit the intended ambience of the place. 2) Beer pressure all over the shop. Ordered two pints of Kronenbourg (thought I would be safe since previous visit featured god-awful ales that were undrinkable), one was flat the other over-carbonated. My girlfriend (incredibly politely) asked for another since flat lager is about as palatable as a wet sock. This request was flatly refused and the barman proceeded to pour her pint into another empty glass claiming that it helps to create fizz - it doesn't. Pathetic excuse. Embarassing to call yourself a barman. Don't be so patronising (my girlfriend worked in a pub for two years). 3) No attempt whatsoever to appease our dismay and simply ignored the fact that I ceremoniously placed the almost full pint back at the bar. 4) They might as well be done with it and turn it into an Australian themed pub - at least we'd know what to expect. | Have been several times as I work nearby. Serves two real ales London Pride and Directors. The first two times I went the beer tasted off. However on the third occasion is was so rank awfully bad I complained and asked if I could have something else. I was told 'no' by the bar maid, other people were drinking it and it was the landlord's policy. My companion approached someone else and asked if his beer was OK and he said he couldn't drink his either so they grudgingly gave me a drink of something else but did not offer to replace his. He didn't seem to want to complain and I noticed he left half an hour later leaving most of the drink in his glass. asadler - 17 Jul 2010 15:10 |
| Not too bad. Good service £6.80 for 2 pint of Directors and 2 packs of peanuts. Beer was ok. Nothing special but you could do a lot worse round here. TheHorsesMouth - 13 May 2009 17:42 |
