It don't smell no more. New landlords are good.

Going by the nearby pubs listing, there isn't a pub within 0.7 miles of the Orange Tree, which must make it one of the most "remote" pubs in north London. Given that lack of local competition, one probably wouldn't expect the pub to be much cop and, to be fair, it wasn't. It's a very large pub with a large main area and a big games area out the back. It's quite dark with the sparse look of a fairly down-at-heel pub inside. Service was reasonably friendly although I don't think I'd return here swiftly.

This pub has had some bad press over the years, with some of it completely justified. Since Sue and Nigel took hold of the reins six months ago, there have been marked improvements; the freshly painted front, with anti-pigeon spikes above is a definite plus. Cleaned carpet, cleaner toilets and new big TVs for sports and music channels make it far more welcoming. There is not a huge choice of beers, but those on offer are well kept, although a bit pricey for a local pub. They don't have a food service, although anyone can bring in a takeaway, with plates and cutlery provided, at no extra cost. The idiot, coke-head, hoodie crowd has been barred and no longer are an issue, however, don't forget, all pubs get occasional problems with these things; sh*t happens when alcohol is served. It's called "Beer in, brain out"!! Come on guys, forget reputations, come in and support your local and make it a better, livelier place for everyone, or like many other pubs, it will close for good leaving locals needing a bus to go for a pint.

I was in here on Saturday to watch the football. It has had a bit of a clean but the place is still a mess. It seems that the outside, including the garden, has been sorted out but that is where it has stopped. The barmaid was very friendly, but the place still lacks any atmosphere.

I’m still not sure that I would want to venture in on a Friday or Saturday night!

This pub should change its name to hell hole, every Saturday/Sunday morning without doubt there is glass & blood splattered outside. The clientele are either alcoholics, local weirdoes or teenage hood rats.
If you find yourself on the doorstep if the Orange Tree, turn around!!
