| not a bad place for a drink, but until they hire a decent enough cook do not EAT......one word bland.lady of the lake was a cracking pint though.will return but just for the ale . ldelfonce - 8 Feb 2012 09:39 |
| Have to agree with the previous review about the cooking, I went to a "Moroccan" evening and the food was as bland as Saturday evening telly. Not a single spice was employed in any of the three meals we ate. So disappointing. But do stop for the beer (which is why you should visit a pub after all), it's always excellent. somertel - 7 Feb 2012 22:36 |
| Popped in for Sunday lunch. Roast beef was overcooked and then shaved off in very thin slices, two tiny roast potatoes, and veg consisted of red cabbage (not with beef!) carrots and courgettes. Gravy which was congealed and a Yorkshire pud which was the only part of the meal which was acceptable. Tried the Hedge Monkey @ 4.6% and the Lady of the lake @ 4.2, both of which were fine, but not as good as before Greg Nicholls stopped brewing. Beer OK but such a shame they can't cook! | Popped in midweek, very pleasant indeed, good atmos, and three local real ales on,teo of which we tried, P G Steam and Isle of Avalon Sunrise, both excellently kept. We shall be returning. rioathmusV - 10 Jul 2011 05:44 |
| I live in Glastonbury but have made this pub my "local". Such a friendly inn searving a very lucky village at Ashcott. The food is ALL home cooked to a very high standard and any variations one wishes they are most happy to accommodate. The beer is always from local breweries and three are normally on at any one time. All lines are kept cleaned and I have never been searved a "bad" pint I recommend this pub to one and all dhatherley - 29 Jun 2011 07:52 |
