| Doom Bar and Ringwood Best on the handles, I tried the former and it was in good condition. Landlord and Landlady (tenants) friendly and keen to promote their pub including Christmas menu. Tried the soup which was excellent with two generous portions of french bread and butter. Didn't try any other food however, the range of food on offer was not extensive or entirely to my taste but the landlord stated that all food was locally sourced. Refurbishment still in progress. | Visited today after hearing it had changed ownership....only one comment to make DONT BOTHER IF YOU WANT DECENT FOOD. The Sunday lunch can only be described as horrendous......Very over priced frozen food, a child could have done better....Pate starter with a lettuce garnish , toast and margarine, soup with value bread and marg. Roast ...everything was frozen , maybe except the yorkshires....Aunt Bessies would have been better. Didnt bother with sweet as overheard other comments and saw what was coming from the kitchen. A total waste of money , would not return and definately DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Shame as could be a lovely pub and one would think new owners either have very low standards or havent got a clue how to build their trade. lewitom - 23 Oct 2011 18:50 |
| Very pleasant atmosphere. They do need to work on the quality of food though. I understand it will be re-opening under new ownership. Maybe the food situation will be sorted out. Craig Alexander I HAVE MY LIFE (http://www.ihavemylife.com) craigalexander - 16 Sep 2011 20:25 |
| No mobile coverage (not a bad thing). Beer quality varies (not sure why) but Ringwood goes from very nice to a bit yuck. Could be slow turnover of beer. Wine is somewhat insipid. Guiness is a good alternative to duff beer/wine. Food is reasonably priced and usually quite nice. Weekends can be quite busy. It's got a nice garden - although as it's next to a stream, sometimes a few buzzy things annoy - in a beautiful location (says Holbury but it's actually on the forest. Good car-parking. Clean pub/toilets, good location. rgb - 29 Jan 2007 17:49 |
