Decent choice of ales, and a decent (albeit limited) food menu which, fairly unusually for Manchester city centre pubs, is served until 8pm. Just across the road from Deansgate station. alexw - 31 Dec 2011 20:46
We liked it. Characterful given that it's relatively new, the beers were excellent – choice or 4 or 5. Staff also very pleasant and helpful. It appears that the days of good-value beer in Manchester are long gone, most places seem to be just behind London prices. The food was fine – veg chilli £6.50, goulash £8.50, but I wouldn't call it cheap or excessively large portions. Worth a call in anyway; we'd go back. Richardhuddleston - 29 Dec 2011 11:08
It looks like a student bar, it charges grown-up prices but its food and beer are worth it. Off-pitch but next to Deansgate BR, it seemed to be a lively convivial place without any arseh*les flashing cash or staring you out - and that's what a pub should be like. The Marble Stout was beyond great.... pkrp - 18 Dec 2011 00:30
This is one of my favourite pubs in the country. In a nice setting next to Deansgate Station, the pub has an open terrace upstairs. A great beer selection, usually at least 6 or 7 real ales on offer. Also a good selection of foreign beers which suits my wife as she is a fruit beer fan. The food is second to none. Good value and really tasty. Had a pie last time I was there and it was one of the nicest I have had. They also do a great Sunday Roast. The only downer was the state of the toilets. However last time I went it did seem they had refurished them. They could still do some work on the stairs as the carpet is extremley tired. I won't detract though, it's a great pub!!! rwjc22 - 18 Nov 2011 17:25
Lovely pub! A bit tatty round the edges now but in a charming way. The beer is a little on the pricey side but the food is great value for huge hearty portions (you need to butterfly the burger to fit it in your mouth!) realalegal - 21 Oct 2011 21:18
