As in my earlier post about this place I had the Hot and Spicy epicurian last night. It was again excellent for quality and value for money. £10 for a 3 course meal which included starters of ribs in a sweet chlli sauce, mains of a whole chicken breast marinated in tikka, beef chilli, lamb vindaloo and a veggie curry all served with aromatic rice. They did have a fish curry but I gave it a miss as I dont like fish. The dessert consisted of a mouth cleansing sorbet. My luck was in aswell as they had one of my favourite stouts on 'Titanic's Vanilla and Chocolate Stout'! Excellent flavours. realalerules1983 - 21 Jul 2010 11:25
Fascinating little diamond is how I best describe this place! Quality real ale backed up with top notch food cooked by the ledgendary OZ. p.s. The Hot and Spicy nights are awesome. realalerules1983 - 25 May 2010 13:19
Comfortably the best beer of my Manchester trip, with the Marble Bitter being a particular highlight. Very good selection of Belgian's too; had a nice Chimay Triple to finish. Lamb burger was excellent and unfinishably well-proportioned. JonW999 - 3 May 2010 17:06
Nipped in for a couple prior to the Gill Scott-Heron concert - good selection of ales, reasonable price - for a place with a glass frontage it does seem very dark though - my companion mentioned that the ladies toilet was mingin. kernott1 - 2 May 2010 07:03
Renowned CAMRA award-winning bar nestled in a railway arch near Deansgate station and in rustic Lancashire scenery- canals, arches and cobbled streets in abundance. It's open plan and slightly bohemian, with the haphazard posters redolent of a student pub. The front has glazed windows all the way and affords good views. It used to have a bar billiards table but no longer, sadly. 2-3 Marble Beers are always on sale here, and the Ginger I tried was top notch as ever. Also 3 guests, i tried the Hawkshead Red which was also excellent. The pub is renowned for its pub grub and gets very busy at the weekend. Not much more to add that hasn't already been said other than that this is easily the best pub in the area, and the one to go to if waiting for a train at Deansgate. Carlurmston - 25 Jan 2010 12:26
