Ale in tip-top condition and friendly, welcoming service. Quality pork pies on s;e. Well worth a visit - 9/10.

One of the 3 York Brewery pubs in town and a decent little pub for a quick stop while shopping with the wife.

6 pumps on the bar, that were offering 3 York beers and a guest ale. I opted for a pint of Centurion Ghost Ale @ 5.4%

The friendly barman helped the wife choose a beer as she couldn't decide what to have.

Old fashioned looking interior with a nook at the rear with a large open fire place.

Food served downstairs in the bar area and upstairs where there seems to be a restaurant, but I didn't venture up there.

Large collection of beer pump clips all over the bar and entrance hall.

Shop at the front selling York Brewery beers and merchandise

Surprised to see some of the negative reviews. I visited Saturday night ten o clock and it was absolutely fine. Good beer, good singer, and friendly staff and clientele. It may lack some of the wow factor of some of York's recent beer offerings but this is still a damn fine pub.

Considering the competion in York this place and possibly the brewery need to buck their ideas up. As with the previous reviewers it was almost empty and nothing said to me that I should return in a hurry. Shame I liked York Brewery beers a lot when they first came out. Was the acquisation by Mitchells when things started to go wrong?

Sunday evening, predictably less thanhalf full, but lively atmosphere of punters chatting, largely due to one group at the bar. Barman friendly and a good pint of Terrrier had. A coice of Guzzler and Ghost Ale also on. Previously visited a year before and recall it being just as enjoyable a place for a pint.
