I think this is a fantastic cosy little place, great beer, quality chinese food with extensive choices and very reasonable prices! The new owners are nice decent young chaps who are new to this area but very helpful and friendly. The outside area could do with some decent furniture and a bit of tidying up (when I used the garden last summer all the plants were dead!!)

It's true, the owners aren't ever going to host their own chat show.

On the other hand, the service is polite and efficient. The quality of the booze and food are excellent - and at really good prices.

There's lots of room - it never feels really claustrophobic, and it's got lots of corners and annexes to disappear into if you want some privacy. There's also a good-sized beer garden at the back.

Newspapers and board games are provided if your friends are boring you.

The one drawback? No deserts! Sometimes a sticky cake and scoop of ice cream would be great after a great plate of noodles.

Bar staff could do with smiling once in a while and maybe saying hello to some of their regular customers. Annoying when they start putting chairs on the tables near closing time. Food is pretty nice though.

Amazing - the food is excellent and the views from the seats by the window are beautiful, especially the fancy dress shop.

Great little place. I disagree with the post about the place losing atmosphere when the ownership changed - the previous owner was not what you would call a charismatic or particularly friendly bloke. I think it's pretty good - the food (Chinese, obviously) is very nice, the service is swift (though the bar staff admittedly won't win any awards for banter), the decor is different, it's sport-friendly, the outside area is decent (especially in the summer) and the prices are low (Kronenbourg Blanc - another plus point - £1 cheaper than other places I have been to). I booked half the bar out for a private party recently and found the staff very helpful.
