I discovered this place as a fresher two years ago and fell in love with it. Come back this September though and I was totally shocked. It used to be a cool student hang out, with friendly locals now though its full of arrogant scumbags getting their fix of RnB & dance music(???). Toilets are grim and hygenically neglected, except by the hords of chav's blatantly doing Cocaine in them, its like a flu epidemic with synchronized sniffing. Most don't even bother to use the cubical to do it in. Tried the food, its actually got worse. Only saving grace is the staff, who are friendly and happy to engage in small talk and the garden. tomwootton - 30 Sep 2008 12:22
Great pub under new management, open late, great vibe in the back garden where everyone sits nowadays. Staff can be a bit slow but are getting better, also its quite expensive compared to other pubs in the area. £3.20 for a pint of decent lager. workshop6 - 3 Sep 2008 14:12
the old woman has gone, thank god,and the new landlord seems like a laugh, his shirts definately are! this pub has changed for the better over the past few months...heated garden equipped for smokers, new tables and chairs, thai food is served in the evening, open till 1am every night so you don't have to go elsewhere once you're comfortable, different events every night of the week (poker and Wii nights being my two favourites)most of the old staff seem to have gone and have been replaced by people who look as if they are enjoying themselves and that smile. this place is probably the best pub on the stretch at the moment and i challenge anybody to say otherwise! 12481012 - 17 Jan 2008 09:39
Have had many happy nights in here with uni folk. It is also a very nice place to come in the day for a quiet lunch, infact it is the only pub in New Cross I would chose to go to if I was alone. Nice staff who are accomadating with food orders. Food is usually good pub standard and served reasonably quickly. Drinks are usually fine. Never had any problems here. Only complaint is more reguarly than it should the card machine breaks down and you have to get cash out to pay, but thats technology and not really the staffs fault. anonymous - 7 Sep 2007 16:29
This place is to review the pub NOT must i add Johnnys bloody flower stall! If thats all we have to go by then i think the place is doomed! The pubs ok, the beers alright and the staff could cheer up abit but all in all not a bad place. i'd rather walk an extra couple of minits down the road to this place then pop next door to the Tavern. jamesdean - 27 May 2007 16:44
