user reviews of the Beehive, Horringer

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Although it's a beautiful spot, and handy for Ickworth, we felt the food was very very overpriced - and we've moved from Surrey so that's not just us being provincial. It was good, but the sizes of the portions were meagre and we paid through the nose for it. Not sure we'd bother again.

I've always liked the Beehive. It was a "gastro-pub" long before the term became common parlance and I've always felt it's good reputation absolutely deserved. Service has always been friendly, beer is excellent and the food of a high standard. Used to enjoy a walk around Ickworth park followed by a pint of foaming Bitter with a bowl of Mussels and some garlic bread.

Food very overated, disappointing and overpriced, didn't taste great either, not sure how they got into the Which pub guide.

Good reputation which we found undeserved.

Our meals were disappointing - overpriced, overcooked and over-rated.

The service was indifferent - at one stage I was ignored at the bar - I even considered the ploy of dropping a glass through dehydration in order to get the barman's attention - he was busy chatting across the bar to another customer.

Friends went later and said it was ok but when most pubs in and around Bury think or pretend they are "gastro-pubs" there's too much choice to risk a second visit to the Beehive.
