A large open style hotel bar which is more pub like than your average hotel bar. Tried a pint of Gangly Ghoul (not sure who the hell brews it) which was okay though nothing special. Another of those old school (with older folk) type of large town centre pubs that hasn't been modified to attract the brats or circuit crowd.

Nice interior, pleasant friendly barmaid, obviously popular with the older generation for lunches. Also a pint of excellent Holden's Mild for £2.20. Maybe I called at a good time, but no complaints from me.

Fantastic terracotta Victorian exterior. Large open plan interior that was decorated well - wallpaper and not trendy plain walls! It was clean and i found the service fine.

The Beer was the usual stuff, with three handpulls; Pedigree, Bass and a guest that was handwritten - In Dark 3.8%, i think. Thankfully i took a sojourn to the bogs at the right time, as i passed a Holden's MILD pull! Excellent, as ever.

The MILD would mean i would always pop into this pub, as they said it was a regular beer. However, it was the pub of the day due to the fact we could get in, breathe, get a seat and hear each other.

Recently visited following a favourable review in the local CAMRA newsletter but was very disappointed. Most of the guest ales obviously came through a chiller or were sour. When I took a pint back they couldn't give a damn saying no body else had complained all night. Both my partner and I subsequently left two nearly full pints.

Decent drinkers pub with small hotel; beer range and quality typical of Tamworth (Bass good enough). Tamworth pubs seenm to be consistent in terms of quality and welcome, though unlikely to excite the micro hunter - I quite like the Bass/Pedi/mild range.
