| Just along the road from the Ship, another pub with excellent beers plus what looks like great food. Not as homely as the Ship and not quite so friendly, but still well worth a visit. Drinking_Bull - 22 Dec 2007 15:43 |
| The Albert is just what a pub should be. The exterior is inviting and you are not disappointed when you step inside. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and there are just enough comfortable seats and tables, all set within a fine old room with plenty of character. A separate room is reserved for dinners and Sunday lunches - the food is excellent, consisting of excellent ingredients simply and beautifully cooked. But the great glory of this pub is the beer - well, that's what pubs are for, isn't it? There are always three good real ales on tap at the bar. Since the landlords buy just a few barrels at a time, you could find yourself sampling as many as 6 or 7 different beers over the course of one week. There's a bias towards local (Kentish) beers, which is as it should be, but also plenty of fine ales from further afield. To get an idea of the variety of beers available here over the course of the year, you only have to look at the hundred or so tap-labels hanging on the wall - other pubs can only dream of such variety! Super location too - on the corner of a lovely square and Deal's most interesting street. Well worth the journey from wherever you are. anonymous - 12 Sep 2007 16:14 |
