A good pub. Good food, good beer selection. Pretty friendly for a Surrey pub (possibly the least friendly county in England).

We stayed here on our way home from Dorset. Large well appointed room attatched to the main building with a back door to let the dog out of! Service and staff were excellent. The food and wine were also very acceptable. The boiled eggs were underdone but otherwise the breakfast was good.
The village is so typically English, lovely!

Been going for around 3 years and not been disappointed yet - had our wedding reception there and they attended to everything perfectly and the room looked fantastic.

Food has always been amazing and everyone who works there is friendly.
Wireless internet (I asked at reception for the key and they did not charge) was also a great help.

First impressions on entering on a late Friday afternoon before Christmas was that the few tables that were in the bar area were badly laid out, there were children running about (baa-humbug), the jukebox was too loud (baa-humbug) and there were the usual fruit-the-loop locals at the bar.

But as there was a nice fire and the place was clean we persevered.

There were 3 attentive bar staff on duty who served us wonderful Shere Drop and great ham, egg and chips. And they turned the jukebox down.

We intend to return and try the restaurant.

After a tiring 7-hour flight from North America I found this out-of-the-way gem and we were not disappointed! . . . They had a great variety of beers and the barman was friendly as well as all the staff . . . We had a supper like we'd never seen before, only in the movies . . . It was spectacular and each dish was a creation like a work-of-art a painting almost! . . . If we visit again we will definitely return here . . .
