This is a nice old coaching inn in a friendly village just north of the Scottish border. It is being refurbed but not ruined, and has a comfy bar with friendly locals and an informal eating area / restaurant. The food is good, varied, and reasonably priced, with a Carvery at weekends.

We often stop off overnight there on the way back to the Midlands after holidays North of the border, and the only thing the Cross Keys was lacking was a decent pint of real ale.....which it now has - Tim Taylor Landlord on cask!!
